Society tends to exclude or ignore gender when it comes to people with disabilities, which is why it is difficult for women with disabilities to be recognized and understood in their role as women. Such women learn early on that they will not become “real women,” that they are not pretty or desirable, and that a life as a partner and mother is out of the question for them. They are also expected to do and accomplish more when it comes to taking care of themselves and ensuring their financial independence.

As part of the Superwomen theater research project, we ask four female actors from the RambaZamba Theater: How do you feel about equality, partnership, and sexual identity? What is beauty? We will also ask new questions about preconceptions and role patterns, show that all women are Superwomen, and celebrate diversity on the RambaZamba stage.

In this work, director Jorinde Dröse addresses the topics of motherhood, care work, discrimination against women, and equal rights for women. She focuses here on empowering marginalized groups and making social structures clear for all to see. With her most recent works, Die Wut, die bleibt (The Anger That Remains), which was performed at the Salzburg Festival, and #motherfuckinghood (Berliner Ensemble theater), Jorinde Dröse has already reached a wide audience and demonstrated that theatergoers are very interested in the topics she deals with. Dröse has been working with RambaZamba and its inclusive Ensemble since she staged her production of Billy Backe at the theater in 2023.

Duration: 1 hour

Produced with the support of the Capital Cultural Fund and funding from the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.

Manche Menschen sagen vielleicht:

“Du bist nicht wie andere Frauen, weil du eine Behinderung hast.

Darum kannst du nicht alles sein, was du willst.”

In diesem Stück soll man erleben:
Frauen mit Behinderung sind genauso stark, wie Frauen ohne Behinderung!

Frauen mit Behinderung sind auch Superwomen

Frauen kommen nämlich in vielen verschiedenen Formen

In dem Stück sprechen Schauspielerinnen über ihr Leben und ihre Erfahrungen

Sie fragen sich:

Was ist Schönheit

Bin ich schön

Was ist Liebe

In wen verliebe ich mich?
Und wer verliebt sich in mich?

Haben Frauen und Männer die gleichen Rechte

Und was hat meine Behinderung mit all dem zu tun?
